CONTROLLER-for a Property Management company in the Minneapolis/St Paul/Twin Cities Metro area

The Controller is responsible for the oversight and management of all areas of Accounting and assisting in the direction of the Operations within the Property Management Department including direct supervision of administrative & support staff.
Areas of Expertise:
We are looking for strong leaders with areas of expertise/experience in/with:
Accounting. Accounting for multiple properties/entities, including monthly financial statement review/analysis/preperation, month-end closings & reconciliations, oversee cash flow, monitor/process IE, mortgages, property races, distributions, payroll, etc. Coordination of the annual budgeting process, yearly audits, year-end financial statement preparation, year-end tax returns, etc. Establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
Operations. Implements and performs special projects as required by the Owner and/or the Vice President of the property management department.
Technology. Property Accounting software administrator. Information Technology support and, other duties as assigned.
Customer service. Client lives and breathes a culture of service, and expects the Controller to lead by example.
People development. Assist in the developing, mentoring, leading, and managing a high-performing, cohesive team of professionals. Assist in the hiring, training, supervising, coaching and support of direct reports (office & administrative staff) as well as non-direct reports (Property Management personnel).
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. CPA preferred but not mandatory.
4-6 years experience in property management accounting. 3+ years at the Controller or Assistant Controller level.
Information Technology savvy or related work experience or interest.
Property Management software competence (Rent Manager, but any Property Management software competency is transferrable)
Excellent oral/written communications skills.
Competence in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
Excellent professional reputation and references required.
