Hello. I’m Daisy Nguyen, President & Chief Executive Connector of Pax Connex
People are so interesting to me. Everyone has a story. And it’s in those stories that we connect and really get to know each other. I’ve been listening and collecting people’s stories for the past decade, and so often, people complain about their jobs. It pains me to know that the one place that takes up the majority of your time is also the one thing in your life that is the biggest burden. I found myself advising, coaching and mentoring others on how to find and land their dream job. And when they did – I found immense joy in knowing that I had played a small part in another person’s discovery of meaningful work, happiness and fulfillment. It is my passion in meeting and helping people meet their goals that launched the idea for Pax Connex. With Pax Connex, I put to use my vast network and knowledge of people. I have taken the time to grow my network organically, and in doing so, I can truly help businesses and individuals find a match.
It is this motto that drives me to help people find the freedom and the happiness they deserve.
Outside of Pax Connex, I have also founded and currently head:
RENT SODA – a business consulting firm specializing in the property management & real estate industry. This has been my baby for the past 4 years, helping both small and large management firms across the nation.
Launchwise – a resource for businesses & entrepreneurs. We host networking/socializing events for entrepreneurs around the twin cities. Another way in which I help to connect people & businesses.
I am originally from the Detroit area, but currently split my time between Minneapolis, MN and Austin, TX. I am passionate and believe in the availability of quality affordable housing for all people: I’m a board member of Aeon, a non-profit affordable housing developer/manager in the twin cities and Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA), one of the most successful and well-run housing authorities across the nation. I am a mother of two college kids and I adore a sweet dog – boxer named Jazz. In my spare time, I am working on two books centered around two of my passions – business and sci-fi.
Favorite Place in the World:
My mom’s closet. As a child, my mom worked so much, and whenever I missed her, I would go and sit in her closet. My mom’s closet smelled of lovely perfumes. The warm textures, colors and vibrant prints of her clothes reflected her unique, fun, loving personality. Wrapping myself in her scarves and sitting in the midst of her collection of beautiful shoes was the next best thing to having her next to me. To this day, whenever I am getting dressed in my closet, I think of her.
Favorite Sci-Fi Book:
The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. My favorite book in that series was the Wizard and the Glass.
In order to be irreplaceacle, one must always be different. – Coco Chanel
Whether you think you can or you think you can’t – you’re right. – Henry Ford
You live longer once you realize that any time spend being unhappy is wasted. – Ruth Renkl
Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. – Bernard Baruch
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go… – Dr. Seuss
I’ve gotta warn you – I’ve been compared to a pitbull and I take that as a compliment. – Daisy Nguyen
Favorite Advice for job seekers:
Know what you want. KNOW it. Once you know what you want, it’s a lot easier to find. It might be a needle in a haystack, but now you know that you’re looking for a needle and not just another piece of hay. And trust me – you will find it.
